Job summary

Seasonal ICU RN opportunity at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Grapevine. This fast-paced unit handles high-acuity medical, surgical, trauma, neuroscience and cardiac patients in a 20-bed setting with 24/7 intensivist support.

The Nurse will participate in a 13-week orientation, work 7am–7pm, and contribute to a culture of teamwork, learning and safety under ICU leadership. Two years of ICU experience is required.

Qualifications

• Degree from a recognized nursing program is required.
• Valid RN license must be held.
• BLS certification within first 30 days of employment is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough assessments following practice standards.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans; adjust as needed.
• Create safe, therapeutic environments for patients, families, and staff.
• Manage pain and promote patient recovery.

Our Intensive Care Unit is a fast-paced environment that includes high acuity patients. Are you looking to increase your knowledge base? Our Intensive Care Unit leadership team fosters an environment that supports learning, mentoring, and building every team member.

Intensive Care Unit

Patient Population: Medical, Surgical, Trauma, Neuro, Cardiac. Patient Ratios: 1:2. Number of Beds: 20 beds. Department Specifics: Level II Trauma, Primary Stroke Center, Thrombectomy Capable, 24/7 Intensivist coverage, Strong collaboration with ICU Physicians/Surgeons, Committees/Unit Based Council, Furthering Education-Nurse Practitioner, CRNA, etc. Excellent culture of teamwork, learning and safety.

Shift

SEASONAL, 7am-7pm (13 WEEKS; 1st week is a full week of Orientation)

Requirement

2 years of recent ICU experience

Job Summary

As a Seasonal RN, you align with our nursing model, manage patient care, evaluate, recognize, create, implement care plans. Monitor patient progress is also vital. Your knowledge will help patients navigate the healthcare system safely, reducing complications. You will use your expertise to understand patient needs and the healthcare environment.

• Using good judgment and clinical reasoning, conduct thorough assessments following practice standards.
• Identify patient and family needs, then develop, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans accordingly. Make adjustments as needed.
• Creating safe, therapeutic environments for patients, families, and staff.
• Managing emotional and physical pain to promote recovery and prevent unnecessary suffering.
