Job summary

AdventHealth Tampa seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for MS Float, PCU Float and Critical Care Float roles. This Night shift, Full Time seasonal contract runs 12/13/26–3/6/27 at our Tampa, FL campus. You will follow infection prevention, ensure medication safety, and develop patient care plans for a variety of units.

The role requires FL RN license, BLS, strong communication, teamwork, and critical thinking. Prior ICU experience and Cerner EMR familiarity are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in nursing required
  • RN licensure in Florida required
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred
  • Minimum 2+ years clinical nurse experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Follow infection prevention precautions and medication safety policies
  • Develop and implement individualized patient care plans
  • Conduct follow-up assessments and adjust plans as needed
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team and ensure thorough hand-offs
  • Provide excellent patient communication and support patient experience
  • Manage staff assignments and unit operations
  • Complete unit audits and participate in education activities
  • Assess diagnostic data and monitor patient outcomes

Job Description:
  • Follows strict infection prevention precautions.
  • Adheres to policies and procedures regarding all aspects of medication safety.
  • Sets measurable and achievable short and long-range goals for patients, developing and implementing individualized plans of care.
  • Prioritizes and completes follow-up assessments, evaluating and modifying plans of care as needed.
  • Applies knowledge and skills pertaining to all diagnoses, procedures, medications, complications, and equipment associated with unit patient population.
  • Adheres to all pertinent regulatory standards, follows strict infection prevention precautions, and ensures medication safety.
  • Promotes an exceptional patient experience through effective communication with patients, families, and visitors, including hourly rounding.
  • Utilizes appropriate techniques, verbiage, and resources in all interactions with patients according to their level of understanding.
  • Communicates effectively with the interdisciplinary team, completing thorough hand-off communication in all situations.
  • Abides by American Nurses Association Scope, Standards, and Code of Ethics, participating in practice changes, process improvement initiatives, and completing all required education.
  • Manages staff accountability and adherence to regulatory requirements when applicable.
  • Facilitates team dynamics of patient care, patient experience, and patient flow including managing staff assignments.
  • Fulfills management responsibilities including effective conflict resolution, patient/staff rounding and communication, resource utilization, comprehensive hand off communication, and completion of unit specific audits/checklists as required or assigned.
  • Demonstrates the ability to assess and interpret diagnostic data relative to patient age and condition, including, but not limited to lab results, non-invasive monitoring data, and interdisciplinary team notes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
