Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center in Columbia, MD is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Special Care Unit (SCU). You will care for lower-acuity ICU step-down patients, including those on drips, under Day Shift (7a–7p) with a 36-hour work week.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing required.
• BSN preferred; ADN holders must matriculate into BSN program.
• RN license required.
• CPR certification required.
• Minimum six months nursing experience required.
• 1 year nursing experience preferred.
• 1 year Telemetry/Stepdown/IMCU or Critical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide bedside nursing care in the SCU for post-surgical and medical patients.
• Monitor patients on telemetry and infusions.
• Collaborate with the nursing leadership and hospital team.
• Maintain patient safety and high-quality care.

Registered Nurse (RN) SCU

Weekly Working Hours: 36 hours per week

Shift: Day Shift (7a to 7p)

Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center cares for a range of patients with severe health conditions. Our hospital has a highly specialized community-based Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and (SCU) dedicated to adult patients requiring intensive monitoring and care after surgery or due to medical conditions, including cardiac care.

As a Registered Nurse in the Special Care Unit (SCU), you will be privileged to care for lower acuity ICU Stepdown patients on drips with complex medical and surgical problems.

Darlene Nortonserves as the Nurse Manager, with a demonstrated track record of effective leadership. Darlene began her career at Johns Hopkins Hospital as a PCT prior to completing nursing school and then working as a nurse in the CCU. In a short span, she showcased her capabilities, earning promotions to Lead Clinical RN and Assistant Nurse Manager in 2019. Her journey continued when she later transferred to HCMC.

Darlene is not only a proficient leader but also a mentor who actively supports the professional growth of RNs. She oversees three vital units: The Intensive Care Unit, the Special Care Unit (IMCU) and Interventional Radiology and Cardiac Cath Nursing. Qualifications:

• Associate’s degree in nursing (ADN) (Required),
• Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN) (Preferred) and
• Applicants with an associate degree in nursing will be considered. Per nursing guidelines, must matriculate into a Bachelor of Nursing program.
• RN - Registered Nurse License (Required)
• CPR - Basic CPR (Required)
• Minimum six (6) months of nursing experience (Required)
• 1 year of nursing experience (Preferred)

Salary Range: Minimum $37.13/hour - Maximum $57.87/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
