Job summary

Meeting Street is seeking a School Registered Nurse to provide health services for students during the school day. The role involves delivering comprehensive nursing care in the classroom setting, responding to emergencies, and maintaining accurate health records.

Qualified candidates must hold a Rhode Island RN license and be able to assist with health screens, medications, and health evaluations while collaborating with parents and staff.

Meeting Street is currently looking for a School Registered Nurse for 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Maintains the health and well-being of the students during the school hours for all daily issues as well as responding to emergency situations.
• Keeps up to date records for all students and assists with scheduling all mandatory health screens.
• Planning and implementing all necessary nursing procedures and develop others if they are needed.
• Administers medications and performs nursing procedures ordered by the physician to be given during school hours including but not limited to G-Tube feedings, catheterizations, respiratory treatments, dialysis, dressing changes, wound care, trach care and suctioning, etc.
• Performs ongoing health status evaluations and medication/treatment reviews to identify health needs and potential problems.
• Documents all nursing care and changes in a student's health status.
• Communicates timely updates to parents, teachers and therapy staff regarding health concerns or changes in the health status of the student.

Requirements

• Licensed RN in Rhode Island.
• Adapts to any medical/technical equipment that is needed to provide health services to our students.
• Provides care to students in their classrooms, special activities, and on field trips.
• Generally, be able to lift/push/pull up to 35 pounds independently and up to 100 pounds with the assistance of adaptive equipment or another staff member.
