Qualifications

• Current license issued by the South Carolina State Board of Nursing to practice as an RN.
• Current CPR Certification REQUIRED.
• Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) PREFERRED.
• Minimum of 3 years nursing experience REQUIRED, preferably in school nursing, public health nursing, emergency room, or pediatrics.

Responsibilities

• Promote wellness and health education for students and staff.
• Protect health by identifying hazards and assisting remediation plans.
• Provide information to reinforce healthy behaviors to parents, students and staff.
• Utilize the nursing process for direct care in assigned schools (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation).
• Perform initial and periodic health screenings and assessments.
• Develop Individual Healthcare Plans (IHP) for students with health deficits.
• Coordinate the team delivering nursing care and medication procedures.
• Establish partnerships with healthcare providers and agencies and triage access to care.
• Serve as liaison between school, community and agencies.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and maintain HBV vaccination records.
• Participate in emergency management and safety planning.
• Establish emergency action plans for students with chronic conditions.
• Lead on-site nursing staff supervision and delegation of tasks.
