Job summary

Alexandria City Public Schools is seeking a School Nurse at Samuel Tucker Elementary to support students' health and learning. This is a 195-day, 10-month licensed position reporting to the Director of School Health Services.

The ideal candidate holds Virginia RN license, CPR, a bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred), and brings experience in school health; Spanish language ability is a plus. Responsibilities include managing health records, administering medications, coordinating with families

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Current License to practice as a Registered Nurse in Virginia is required.
• Current CPR Certification.
• At least 5 years of experience preferred.
• Bilingual speaking ability in Spanish is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops, implements, and evaluates school health goals with school personnel and community resources.
• Participates in planning programs to minimize health problems that interfere with learning.
• Maintains and reviews student health records and statistics.
• Communicates health problems and needs to students’ parents and staff.
• Administers medications and treatments as approved by policy and law.
• Provides health counseling to students to support healthy decisions.
