Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Lutheran Hospital in Cleveland is seeking an RN Resident for Geriatric Psychiatry to join the Trans Senior Mental Health 6D unit. This Magnet-designated hospital offers strong nursing support and opportunities for professional growth as you provide direct patient care on night shift, 7:00 pm to 7:30 am.

You will participate in care planning, administer medications, assess discharge needs, and educate patients and families, with mentoring and resources to advance your nursing

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through AHA or Red Cross.
• ACLS Certification upon hire or within first year if in Critical Care.
• Less than one year of current acute care RN experience or licensed military RN.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care.
• Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.
• Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
• Educate patients and their families.

Lutheran Hospital’s Geriatric Psych Unitspecializes in the unique care mental health needs of patients ages 55 and older. This unit is dedicated to helping patients achieve healthier and more productive lives through evaluation,treatment, and stabilization of any disturbances of thought, feelings, mood, behavior,and any co-morbidities.As an RN on this team, you will deliver exceptional care, throughout the patient care journey. In this role, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed.

A caregiver in this role works nights from 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide direct nursing care.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
• *If in a Critical Care area an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) Certification upon hire or within first year of employment
• Less and one year of current acute care RN experience OR licensed military RN experience

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Healthcare experience from nursing home or inpatient care

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
• Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
• Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
• Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
• Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
