Piedmont Atlanta Hospital is offering a Spring 2027 RN Residency Program starting February or March 2027. This 12-month transition-to-practice program provides education, mentorship, and blended learning experiences to new graduate nurses across Medical/Surgical, Transplant, Cardiac Progressive Care, Critical Care, ED, OR, and Women’s Services.

The residency emphasizes clinical judgment, communication with colleagues, and didactic content tailored to new graduates from professional nursing

Qualifications

• Graduate of a nursing program.
• Current Georgia RN or NLC/eNLC multistate license.
• BLS CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle using nursing processes.
• Coordinate patient care activities and maintain standards of practice.

Our 12-month, comprehensive, transition-to-practice RN Residency program facilitates your progress from student to professional nurse through education, mentorship and peer support. Our program prepares new graduate nurses by teaching the knowledge, skills and behaviors that are necessary to continuously improve quality and safety at the point of care. It combines precepted orientation, led by dedicated preceptors, with blended learning experiences.

RN Residents will:

• develop clinical judgment needed to rapidly recognize a change in patient’s condition and urgency of a clinical situation
• cultivate excellent communication skills, allowing them to engage with colleagues and support patients
• learn didactic content specifically tailored to new graduates from professional nursing organizations

Responsibilities

The Staff RN provides nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care for patients. He/she functions within the framework of the policies and procedures of the organization and demonstrates professional growth and accountability. The staff nurse is responsible for maintaining standards of practice, coordinating patient care activities of all assigned staff in the provision of quality nursing care.

Qualifications

Minimum education required:

• Graduate of a nursing program

Minimum licensure/certification required:

• Current license in the state of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC multistate Registered Nurse license
