UAB Medicine is seeking a Registered Nurse for Surgical Services to join our day shift. This role delivers professional nursing care in the operative setting for patients undergoing surgical or invasive procedures, including scrub and circulating responsibilities.

You will assist the surgeon, manage patient care before, during, and after procedures, and prepare OR rooms and instruments. Required licensure includes Alabama RN license and BLS, with a Diploma from an accredited nursing program.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required within 1 month of hire date.
• Alabama Board of Nursing license required before hire date.
• Diploma from an accredited nursing program and current professional licensure at time of hire.

Responsabilités

• Deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting for surgical/invasive procedures.

• Perform circulating functions: monitor patient condition and manage nursing care pre-, during, and post-procedure.

Job Description

Deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.

• Perform scrub functions including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during procedure.
• Perform circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during and after procedure.
• Directly assist operating physician with surgical tasks including hemostasis, suturing and wound exposure as well as patient positioning.
• Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND professional licensure at time of hire required.
