RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Same Day Surgery unit at Monmouth Medical Center - Southern Campus in Lakewood, NJ. This full-time, day-shift role offers growth, teamwork, and a safety-focused culture.

Responsibilities include comprehensive patient assessments, safe medication administration, interprofessional collaboration, patient education, accurate EMR documentation (EPIC), and participation in rounds.

Qualifications

• Active New Jersey RN license in good standing.
• Current BLS, ACLS & PALS certifications.
• At least one year of Critical Care or Peri-Op experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing strongly preferred.
• Experience with electronic medical records (EPIC).

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor for clinical changes, intervening as needed.
• Administer safe, evidence-based medications and provide hands-on care.
• Collaborate with physicians and providers to ensure timely, coordinated care.
• Educate patients and families to support informed decision-making.

SDS is a fast paced unit caring for patients requiring surgical procedures pre-op and post op.

Typical day may include:

• Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and recognize subtle clinical changes, using your judgment to intervene early and advocate for your patients
• Providing safe, evidence-based medications, treatments, and hands on care grounded in strong clinical judgment
• Serving as a clinical partner to physicians and advanced providers, offering insight that supports timely, well-coordinated care decisions
• Providing clear, compassionate education to patients and families so they feel informed, supported, and prepared for the next phase of care
• Ensuring accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record to promote continuity and patient safety
• Contributing your voice during interdisciplinary rounds, helping drive seamless communication and smooth transitions of care
• Taking an active role in a highly collaborative team environment where shared accountability and teamwork directly impact outcomes

Qualifications and Requirements:

To be considered for this RN opportunity, you must hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing and a current American Heart Association BLS, ACLS & PALS certification & at least one year Critrical care or Peri-Op experience. A Bachelor's degree in Nursing is strongly preferred, as is prior patient care experience and comfort with electronic medical record systems (EMR) like EPIC. This position offers a 36 hour/week schedule allowing you to build strong patient relationships while maintaining balance.
