The ProMedica Nurse Residency Program is recognized as the leading residency initiative in the region, designed to seamlessly transition newly graduated nurses into independent practitioners. This comprehensive program offers a supportive, preceptor-driven learning environment focused on enhancing critical thinking, patient safety, quality care, evidence-based practice, and effective teamwork. With continued guidance and mentorship throughout the first year of practice, ProMedica is dedicated to supporting your success and professional growth.

Available to newly graduated nurses with less than one year of acute care experience, as well as nursing students eligible to apply in their final year, the program offers placement at various ProMedica hospital locations, with the flexibility to match departmental openings. The residency duration ranges from 10 to 24 weeks, based on individual progress and unit needs, followed by a 12-month commitment to the unit of hire.

POSITION SUMMARY

New graduate nurse or other nurse transitioning to different level of care will function under the RN job description of the unit with the oversight of the preceptor and educator. Residence is considered a form of orientation and while independence and autonomy are encouraged, to assure patient safety, the preceptor or educator will determine the amount of supervision required during the progression to full independence.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Participates in planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care based on defined patient care plan, patient care policies and standards of care, and knowledge of the Nursing Process. 2. Gathers data for the Nursing Process.

3. Maintains a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families in accordance with care deliver standards.

4. Provides safe patient care per facility/department RN job description within the achieved competencies of the residency. Seeks clarification prior to performing skills if uncertain. 5. Participates in learning activities provided.

6. Seek to understand the theory supporting learning activities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education: N/A

Skills: Must be able to understand directions, communicate and respond to inquiries; requires effective interpersonal skills. Must be able to input and retrieve information from computer. Years of Experience: N/A

License: Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio or Michigan based on facility of hire

Certification: CPR certification

WORKING CONDITIONS

Personal Protective Equipment: N/A

Physical Demands: Must be able to move about hospital and between workstations; prolonged periods of standing. Must be able to tolerate exposure to dust, fumes, chemicals, temperature changes, blood, and bodily fluids. Must be able to occasionally and with assistance lift, move or carry very heavy weight materials, equipment, or patients.
