Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a registered nurse to provide ambulatory and inpatient care to adults and pediatrics with hematologic, oncologic, and benign diseases. The role requires nursing judgment and coordination with the interdisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient care.

The position offers full-time hours, a 4-10 hour shift pattern from Monday to Friday, and a comprehensive benefits package. Alabama nursing license and CPR are required; ACLS/PALS may be required when applicable.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a nursing program approved by the Alabama State Board of Nursing.
• Associate’s degree in nursing; BSN preferred.
• Two years nursing experience preferred; experience may not substitute for education.
• Current RN license in Alabama; CPR certification required or obtained within 30 days of employment.
• If working in the Hazelrig-Salter Radiation Oncology Center, ACLS and PALS certification from the American Heart Association are required.

Job Description

To provide professional ambulatory and inpatient nursing care to adult and pediatric patients with hematologic, oncologic, and benign diseases. To demonstrate specialized radiation oncology knowledge and skills gained through education and professional experience. To deliver care to patients utilizing the nursing process of assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating. To coordinate activities with other members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure quality patient care.

Qualifications

Graduate of a School of Nursing Program approved and accredited by the Alabama State Board of Nursing required. Associate’s degree in nursing. BSN preferred. Two (2) years nursing experience preferred. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required. Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of employment. If working in the Hazelrig-Salter Radiation Oncology Center, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is also required.
