Compensation:
Pay Range: $28.38 - $46.17 / hour

Multiple Shifts Available

UAB Medicine supports work/life balance. The available shift for this unit is:
- Full-Time AM: 5 8-hour shifts per week (Monday - Friday 0500-1330)

Job Description

To utilize the nursing process to provide care and/or counsel individuals in the operative setting regarding health promotion, maintenance, and the prevention of illness and injury. Employing a systematic critical-thinking approach, the nurse will gather data, assess, make nursing judgments, intervene, and evaluate human responses to health issues through activities like health teaching, counseling, and surgical care. The nurse will identify patient needs before, during, and after surgery using the AACN Synergy Model, delegate, coordinate, and manage all aspects of nursing care in a timely and cost-effective manner. Care delivery will be in collaboration with the patient, family, and healthcare team, with input from licensed physicians, psychologists, podiatrists, and dentists.

Qualifications
  • At least 1 year of Critical Care/ICU experience preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing program required; Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred. Work experience cannot substitute for educational requirements.
  • Currently licensed or eligible for licensure as an RN by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
  • Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association; should be obtained within 30 days of employment.
  • Depending on the unit, ACLS and/or PALS certifications may be required.
