Job summary

Geisinger is seeking an Inpatient Registered Nurse Per Diem to join the Central Region Float Pool in Danville, Pennsylvania. This position offers an hourly rate up to $57.75, with float premiums up to $10 per hour on all hours worked and shift differentials up to $7 for evening, night and weekend shifts.

You will provide direct patient care, perform assessments, develop care plans, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team across hospital units.

Qualifications

• Graduate from nursing program and hold an active RN license in Pennsylvania.
• Minimum bedside nursing experience required, including float/travel assignments.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Complete assessments within scope of practice and unit standards.
• Provide direct patient care including treatments, medications, and diagnostics.
• Coordinate and educate patient/family; discharge planning with the care team.
• Evaluate interventions and revise care plans based on patient response.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to resolve patient needs.
• Participate in unit-based decisions and quality/safety initiatives.

Job Description

• Completes assessments as established by scope of practice and unit standards.
• Addresses physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of patient and family throughout the continuum of care.
• Formulates, coordinates, and provides plan of care as established in unit standards including, patient and family education, family needs and discharge planning throughout hospitalization with members of the interdisciplinary team.
• Provides direct patient care including, treatments, medications, and diagnostic studies according to policy and procedure.
• Evaluates effectiveness of nursing interventions and revises plan of care based upon patient response to interventions.
• Initiates collaboration with physicians, ancillary personnel, and other interdisciplinary team members and acts to proactively resolve and facilitate patient needs.
• Problem solves, troubleshoots and takes corrective measures in the care and handling of equipment.
• Participates in unit-based decision-making regarding the utilization of evidence- based practice.
• Actively participates as a team member working toward team goals of the unit and organization and is accountable for unit and system specific metrics.
• Actively participates in patient quality and safety education programs and other activities designed to improve departmental and organizational quality and safety.

Position Details

• Must have current and/or recent bedside work experience specifically with float assignments or travel nursing. Minimum one year of bedside experience required.
• Ability to work day/night rotation schedule.
• Must rotate GMC Danville, Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital, and Geisinger Shamokin Area Community Hospital.
