Job summary

Geisinger Healthplex Woodbine is seeking a Registered Nurse for per diem shifts. You will support physicians and patients, provide education, and ensure adherence to treatment plans in a fast-paced clinic setting.

Responsibilities include administering medications, IVs, IV push, and assisting with invasive procedures. Neurovascular and radiology-related duties may apply as needed, with emphasis on patient safety and quality of care.

Qualifications

Job Duties:

You'll provide primary nursing support to the physician and patient to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of the patient's condition. Provides patient education, promotes an understanding of the condition and adheres with the treatment plan.

This role is per diem; scheduled as needed.

Typical hours include: 7:30 am to 4pm; 8 am to 4:30 pm or 8:30 am to 5 pm

At least one (1) year of RN work experience is preferred.

Position Details:

The Registered Clinic Nurse, functions in the spirit of teamwork, is accountable for the delivery of care utilizing skills learned in the clinic. Assists other team members on the unit.

Acts as clinic lead providing oversight of clinic flow and non-provider staff. Monitor staffing levels to assure appropriate staffing based on clinic needs. Assists in all aspects of day to day clinic activity.

Triages patient sick calls to facilitate appropriate treatment plan with providers.

Obtains and documents patient medical history, chief complaint, vital signs, and provides basic medical data base for provider, and prepares patient for examinations.

Oversees chart checks insuring that all patient completed testing is available for provider visit.

Directly assists providers with invasive interventional procedures as directed by provider to facilitate accurate diagnosis and treatment.

Collects and prepares laboratory specimens and completes associated paperwork to expedite laboratory studies with maximum accuracy and efficiency.

Executes and documents ongoing patient communication.

Provides instruction to ensure patient's understanding of medical condition and compliance with treatment instructions.

Inserts, monitors, regulates and discontinues IVs as required by provider.

Administers medications, IV push medications, oral and topical medications.

IV Medications including Conscious Sedation (Midazolam and Fentanyl) which requires yearly competencies and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support completion.

Responsible for the refilling (highly concentrated narcotic medications) and maintenance of the Intrathecal Pump patient population in conjunction with Interventional Pain Clinic Providers.

Provides care for Intravenous Lidocaine Infusion patients which require 1:1 observation/assessment/documentation during the infusion.

Responsible for prep, positioning and monitoring of patient for acute changes during invasive interventional procedures.

Receive, recover, assess and educate patients on all aspects of medication and treatments as appropriate prior to discharge.

Routinely inspects and observes condition and operation of diagnostic equipment and instrumentation to ensure proper operation and identify need for preventive and corrective maintenance. Competent in sterile technique and able to clean, sterilize and prepare instruments, according to established protocols, to ensure required level of asepsis and adequate availability.

Required to wear protective equipment (lead apron/collar; radiation badge) during fluoroscopic procedures and complete necessary competencies annually.

Cleans and sets up Procedure rooms between cases, ensures required level of asepsis, availability of appropriate instruments and equipment, and preparation of patient.

Educates staff and patients on all aspects of medication and treatments as appropriate. Serves as preceptors for new nursing staff.
