Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL is seeking an experienced perioperative nurse to provide direct nursing care for anesthetized patients in the immediate post-operative period. You will follow AORN/ASPAN aseptic standards, evaluate responses to treatments, manage pain, and anticipate case-specific needs based on procedures and pathophysiology.

Requires graduation from an accredited nursing program and active licensure as an ADN/BSN RN in Alabama with BLS and ACLS within specified timelines.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider obtained within 30 days of hire date (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).
• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 months of hire date (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care for anesthetized patients in the immediate post-operative or post-procedural period.
• Follow aseptic sterile technique according to AORN/ASPAN standards.

• Schedule: Full Time Days, 830a-9p Monday- Friday, 3-12's with call. No holidays or weekends unless on call
• Work Location: UAB ST Vincent's Birmingham

Job Description

Provide direct nursing care for anesthetized patients in the immediate post-operative or post-procedural period.

• Follow aseptic sterile technique according to Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses / American Society of Peri Anesthesia Nurses (AORN/ASPAN) standards.
• Evaluate patient's responses to treatments and interventions.
• Manage patient's pain.
• Anticipate case-specific needs based on knowledge of procedure(s) performed and pathophysiology.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Nursing program required. Professional licensure at time of hire required.
