Job description

Job Responsibilities

1. Completes preparation of the patient according to defined procedures.
2. Performs patient assessments for fall risks.
3. Prepares equipment and supplies for procedures using sterile techniques.
4. Cares for equipment before, during, and after procedures as needed.
5. Performs intravenous starts and monitors intravenous therapy on designated patients.
6. Conducts point-of-care testing such as urine pregnancy tests or blood glucose levels.
7. Administers medications, IV push medications, and conscious sedation.
8. Provides post-procedure care.
9. Observes, interprets, reports, and records signs indicating changes in the patient's condition.
10. Records information to monitor patients' needs prior to procedures.
11. Monitors and assists patients with spinal cord stimulators.
12. Provides patient education to patients and caregivers.
13. Adheres to regulations mandated by relevant agencies.
14. Assists with orientation, in-service programs, and supervises nursing students and new staff.
15. Participates in Quality Improvement activities and patient safety programs.
16. Identifies potential errors or adverse events within processes or systems and reports serious events promptly.
17. Assumes charge nurse role on a rotating basis and assigns staff based on patient acuity.

Work Environment & Additional Information

Work is typically performed in a clinical setting. The role requires compliance with all organizational policies and procedures. The statements herein are not exhaustive but represent typical responsibilities.

Additional Details

• Hours: 36 hours/week; 12-hour shifts starting between 6:15 AM and 6:45 AM, subject to review during interview.
• Travel/Location: Less than 25%, primarily at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre with rotation to Geisinger Wyoming Valley as needed.
• Weekend, Holiday, and On-Call: Possible based on department needs, to be discussed during interview.
• Experience: OR experience preferred; CNOR certification preferred but not required.
• Union: Yes.
