Job summary

UAB Medicine's UAB St. Vincent's East in Birmingham, AL seeks an experienced registered nurse for the 5 East Oncology unit.

This full-time night shift (7pm-7am) offers a comprehensive benefits package with up to $20,000 bonus for eligible full-time hires and the opportunity to care for patients with cancer and related conditions in a 22-bed unit. Provide direct nursing care, coordinate multidisciplinary care, follow policies, and assist with discharge planning.

Qualifications

• RN licensure in Alabama required (or eligibility)
• BLS Provider (American Heart Association/American Red Cross) required
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program

5 East, Oncology is a 22-bed unit that specializes in the care of patients with a diagnosis or history of cancer. 5E also sees a variety of medical-surgical patients ranging from pneumonia and COPD to CHF and diabetes.

Common surgical procedures for 5 East include biopsies, EGDs, lithotripsy, and cholecystectomies.

What You Will Do

Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

• Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

What You Will Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education:

• Graduate of an accredited Nursing program required. Professional licensure at time of hire required.
