Job summary

Trinity Health in Ohio is seeking a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit RN to support Mount Carmel St. Ann's NICU. The Staff RN provides high-quality patient care within the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, aligning with unit policies and Mount Carmel Health System standards.

The role emphasizes care for neonates in a Level III NICU, collaboration with physicians, and patient-family education. RN licensure in Ohio and BLS/CPR are required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
• Current license to practice as an RN in Ohio.
• Current BLS/CPR certification.
• Experience in NICU setting preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and manage patient care.
• Basic computer skills; EMR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess and evaluate patient care for an assigned group of patients using evidence-based practice.
• Assist providers with patient assessment, examinations and treatments.
• Perform basic medical procedures under provider supervision.
• Administer medications according to policies and guidelines.
• Educate patients and families about procedures and diagnoses.
• Document assessments, interventions and outcomes accurately.
• Coordinate care and supervise other staff as appropriate.

About the Unit

The Mount Carmel St. Ann's NICU is a 23 bed unit and is a Level III NICU. This unit keeps all gestations here and will send surgical patients and patients requiring multiple subspecialty consults. We are a Nationwide Children's Hospital unit so we follow their patient care policies and our staff have access to their education on neonatal care.

About the job

The Registered Nurse (RN), within the scope of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, will provide care in an atmosphere sensitive to each person's physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs. The Staff RN is accountable for the delivery of patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within the standards, policies, procedures and guidelines of Mount Carmel Health System.

What you will do

• Assess and evaluate patient care for an assigned group of patients, utilizing evidence-based practice;
• Assists provider with patient assessment, examinations and treatments;
• Perform basic medical procedures under the supervision of a provider, including set up of procedures.
• Administer medications under the direction of the provider, according to the organization’s standards, policies, procedures, and/or guidelines.
• Assist in emergency situations under the direction of the provider
• Thoroughly educate and explain procedures to patients and family members (diagnosis, disease process etc.).
• Document accurately and completely pertinent assessments, interventions and outcomes for patients in accordance with documentation standards, policies, procedures and/or guidelines.
• Assume responsibility and accountability for care provided and documented by other licensed and unlicensed care givers as appropriate.

What we are looking for

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing ; BSN preferred.
• Experience in NICU setting preferred Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio
• Current BLS/CPR
• Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and manage patient care, including delegation to and supervision of other members of the patient care team
• Basic computer skills required; prior experience using an EMR for charting preferred
