Job summary

Piedmont Healthcare is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Ortho/Neuro unit in Georgia. This full-time day shift position includes a sign-on bonus up to $5,000 and a focus on acute care and post-operative care for knee, hip, and spinal surgeries.

The role supports CVA/TIA care, uses EPIC, and offers opportunities for growth through unit education and participation in clinical initiatives. A BSN is preferred, with licensure in Georgia required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nursing required or preferred.
• Georgia RN licensure (or NLC/eNCL Multistate) required.
• ACLS and PALS certifications required or to be obtained within specified orientation period.

Responsibilities

• Bedside report at shift change.
• Purposeful rounding for safety and service.
• Support quality initiatives (pain assessment, infection prevention, etc.).
• Act as unit educator for onboarding and competency.
• Assist with staffing and daily operations as charge nurse.

Joint & Spine/ Neuroscience Unit Profile (Med Surg 3)

We are a 17-bed hybrid unit, specializing in acute CVA's and TIA's, along with post-operative care of knee, hip, and spinal surgery patients. In addition, we handle all types of medical/ surgical patients.

• Bedside report handoff at change of shift
• Purposeful Rounding for safety and service
• Quality initiatives such as pain assessment and reassessment, pressure ulcer prevention, infection prevention strategies for central lines and indwelling urinary catheters, etc.
• Unit educator to help address competency, onboarding, and learning needs
• Charge nurse out of staffing or with limited patient load to facilitate daily operations
• EPIC electronic health record
• Virtual Nurses to help with admissions and discharges
• Nurse Extern program

The staff nurse provides nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care for patients. He/she functions within the framework of the policies and procedures of the organization and demonstrates professional growth and accountability. The staff nurse is responsible for maintaining standards of practice, coordinating patient care activities of all assigned staff in the provision of quality nursing care.

Performs patient assessments to include collection of data regarding the patient's physical, psychosocial and health history.Appropriately evaluates the developmental age of the patient when performing assessments, treatments and patient/family education.Organizes patient data into the formulation of a plan of care; identifies additional information needed and makes care decisions based on identified needs. Carries out plan of care to achieve desired patient outcomes.Provides patient care that is specific to the setting, identified needs and plan; ensures that the care provided is appropriate to the severity of the disease, condition, impairment or disability.Communications issues/concerns to the Charge Nurse, Clinical Manager and/or physician as appropriate.Documents patient care and concerns in the patient record.

Cardiac Tele

• Additional Required Certifications: ACLS Certification - (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 6 months of start date) within 180 Days Required

Critical Care

• Additional Required Certifications: ACLS Certification - (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 6 months of start date) within 180 Days Required

Dialysis

• Additional Required Certifications: CDN (Certified Dialysis Certificate) preferred Preferred

Emergency Department

• Additional Required Certifications: ACLS and PALS Certification - (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 6 months of start date) Experienced Emergency Department nurses will have 6 months to obtain the PALS certification.

Infusion/Oncology: Pediatrics

• Identifies, reports and provides appropriate protective measures for high risk situations including, but not limited to, abuse or neglect, failure to thrive and potential for abduction.
• Additional Required Certifications: PALS Certification - required at Piedmont Columbus Hospital (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 6 months of start date)
• PEARS or PALS Certification - required at Piedmont Athens Hospital (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 6 months of start date) within 180 Days Required

Surgical Services

• PALS if unit provides care to pediatric patients (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 6 months of start date) OR - BLS required only within 180 Days Required

Women's Services: Labor and Delivery

• ACLS Certification - (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 6 months of start date) NRP by the end of orientation period, AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Program within 12 months of start date
