Manages individualized, outcome-oriented nursing care through the use of the nursing process. Provides care, treatment, and services through the successful coordination and completion of a series of processes that include assessment, planning care, and providing care in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures.

  1. Assessment/Reassessment: Assesses and diagnoses patient and family needs to provide quality care by initiating admission assessment within 8 hours of admission, identifying and documenting teaching needs throughout hospitalization.
  2. Plan of Care: Develops, discusses, and communicates a prioritized problem list/plan of care for each patient, collaborating with support persons, updating plans, and documenting outcomes. Facilitates discharges/transfers by 12:00 pm, communicating barriers via the Chain of Command. Documents all patient care following policies and standards. Assesses and reassesses patient comfort levels, works on behalf of patients and families, and raises ethical questions with the clinical team.
  3. Medication Administration: Demonstrates knowledge of SSH policies for administering, transcribing, and recording medications. Properly documents narcotic withdrawal, administration, and resolves discrepancies. Initiates and maintains IV access per SSH policy.
  4. Safety: Verifies patient identity with two identifiers prior to invasive procedures, complies with CDC hand hygiene guidelines, assesses fall risk, ensures regulatory compliance of environment, understands emergency roles, and practices handoff communication using SBAR.
  5. Professional Development: Takes responsibility for professional growth, obtaining at least 5 contact hours annually, practicing within MA Nurse Practice Act, participating in initiatives, and demonstrating empathy and sensitivity in patient interactions.
  6. Technology: Uses Lotus Notes and Meditech applications for communication and documentation, embraces new technology, and participates in ongoing learning.

Job Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Previous Acute Care RN experience preferred
  • RN - Registered Nurse license
  • ACLS certification

Our float pool has immediate openings for dynamic RNs to work full-time days and nights, 12-hour shifts. Float pool RNs receive an additional $5/hour "float bonus" per shift. Night shift differentials of $8 during the week and $15 on weekends.

Additional Education if Required: Associates of Nursing

License/Registration/Certification Requirements: ACLS (AHA), RN (Massachusetts)
