Qualifications

Shift: Part-Time 24-hours/week, 7p-7a

General Description:

An OU Health Registered Nurse (RN) I works under general supervision, providing high-quality care to patients with a range of health problems. RN I typically represents a nurse who is a novice or an advanced beginner, progressing towards competence by relying on rules and beginning to formulate principles based on real experience.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Align behaviors with OU Health values and maintain nursing standards.
  • Manage assigned patients, document responses, and assist with examinations and procedures.
  • Monitor physiological data and intervene as necessary.
  • Administer medications and manage IV infusions and blood products.
  • Deliver safe and competent patient care.
  • Address patient complaints and inform patients and families about procedures and care plans.
  • Make appropriate referrals and foster professional growth through mentorship and certification maintenance.
  • Develop career and performance goals aligned with organizational metrics.
  • Promote an inclusive workforce and delegate tasks as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:

RN I: Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing; 0-3 years of patient care experience; Current RN license (Oklahoma or multistate); BLS certification.

RN II: Same education as RN I; 3-5 years of experience; same license and certification requirements.

RN III: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Master's preferred); 5+ years of experience; same license; specialty certifications preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Knowledge of nursing practices, techniques, and procedures.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and evaluation skills.
  • Effective communication and cultural competency skills.
  • Proficiency with computer applications related to healthcare.
  • Ability to advocate for patients and manage conflicts constructively.
  • Compliance with regulatory standards and fostering an inclusive environment.
