Job Description:

Location: Stephenson Cancer Center

Shift Available: Full-Time (40 hours/week), 10-hr shifts between Monday-Friday

The Main Chemotherapy Infusion Center is an adult outpatient facility at the Stephenson Cancer Center with 43 treatment bays, treating roughly 100-125 patients daily with Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy. This fast-paced, team-centered environment requires excellent communication skills and multitasking ability. Our orientation includes one-on-one precepting and ONS certification for chemotherapy administration. Candidates willing to learn a new specialty are encouraged to apply.

Experience: One (1) year of RN experience preferred.

General Description:

RN I is a novice or advanced beginner progressing to competent, relying on rules and gaining experience to formulate principles.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Align behaviors with OU Health values and maintain nursing standards.
  • Manage assigned patient(s), document responses, and note changes in physician orders.
  • Assist physicians with examinations and minor procedures.
  • Monitor physiological data, observe patient manifestations, and intervene as needed.
  • Administer prescribed medications and manage IV infusions and blood products.
  • Deliver safe, competent patient care.
  • Resolve patient complaints promptly and collaborate with support staff.
  • Communicate procedures and care plans to patients and families.
  • Refer patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
  • Seek mentorship, maintain certifications, and pursue professional development.
  • Develop career and performance goals aligned with departmental metrics.
  • Promote an inclusive workforce valuing individual differences.
  • Delegate tasks to support staff as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:

RN I:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • 0-3 years patient care experience
  • Current RN license (Oklahoma or multistate eNLC)
  • Basic Life Support (AHA) certification upon hire

RN II:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • 3-5 years patient care experience
  • Current RN license and BLS certification

RN III:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Master's preferred)
  • 5+ years patient care experience
  • Current RN license, BLS, and preferred specialty certifications
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Knowledge of nursing theory, practices, and procedures

  • Effective communication and relationship-building skills
  • Competence in computer applications for safety and quality
