Job Description

General Description: An OU Health Registered Nurse (RN) I works under general supervision, providing high-quality care to patients with varying health problems. They embody the OU Health Way, demonstrating core values such as Patients First, Relentless Excellence, Integrity, Inclusion, Learning, and Teamwork.

RN I is suitable for nurses who are novice or advancing to competent, relying on rules and principles based on experience.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Align behaviors with OU Health values and maintain nursing standards.
  • Manage assigned patient(s), document responses, and assist physicians.
  • Monitor and respond to physiological data, administer medications, and regulate IV infusions.
  • Deliver safe, competent patient care, resolve complaints, and communicate care plans.
  • Refer patient needs, seek mentorship, and pursue professional development.
  • Foster an inclusive environment, delegate tasks, and perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
RN I
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • 0-3 years of patient care experience
  • Current RN license (Oklahoma or multistate eNLC)
  • BLS certification
RN II
  • Same education as RN I
  • 3-5 years of experience
RN III
  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's preferred
  • 5+ years of experience
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Knowledge of nursing theory and practices
  • Organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to advocate for patients and foster diversity
