Summary:
The competent Nurse, in the same or similar clinical setting, practices independently and demonstrates an awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. Provides routine and complex care, with the ability to focus on long-range goals or plans. Continues to develop the ability to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers as a means to help manage the clinical situation.
Responsibilities:
- Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
- Provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients, consistent with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice.
- Addresses psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families according to their level of practice.
- Administers medications and treatments using appropriate protocols; monitors for side effects and treatment effectiveness.
- Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided.
- Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, families, and caregivers; identifies issues and resources.

Job Requirements:
Education/Skills
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
- All new experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within 30 days.
- Precepted by trained staff; completes organizational competency validations, including Perinatal-specific competencies.
- Completes annual competency requirements.
Experience
- 1 year in related nursing specialty preferred.
- Perinatal RN Residency or recent Perinatal practice preferred.
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
- BLS required.
- RN License in state or compact license.
- Current certification in NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) or AWHONN courses, obtained within 30 days for experienced nurses or 4 months for new hires.
- Current STABLE certification, obtained within 30 days for experienced nurses or 4 months for new hires.
- ACLS certification within 30 days for experienced nurses or 90 days for new graduates.
- NRP certification at hire or within 60 days, maintained thereafter.
