Provides routine and complex care, with the ability to plan for long-range goals or plans. Continues to develop the ability to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers as a means to help manage the clinical situation.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients, consistent with ANA standards.
  • Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
  • Administers medications and treatments using appropriate protocols; monitors for side effects and effectiveness.
  • Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
  • Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, families, and caregivers; identifies issues and resources.
CORE COMPETENCIES
  • Utilizes critical thinking to assess physical, psychosocial, social, cultural, spiritual, and developmental needs.
  • Communicates findings to healthcare team members.
  • Develops and modifies care plans based on evidence-based practices.
