Summary: The competent Nurse, in the same or similar clinical setting, practices independently and demonstrates awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. Provides routine and complex care, with the ability to focus on long-range goals or plans. Continues to develop the ability to manage contingencies of clinical nursing. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers to help manage the clinical situation.

About the Description : CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital - Westover Hills (CSRH-WH) is a 150-bed hospital serving the fastest-growing area of San Antonio. Specialized care includes orthopedic and surgical services, ICU, women’s services, newborn nursery, cardiovascular care, vascular lab, sleep center, emergency services, weight loss institute, wound care, rehabilitation, and more. The campus features an Outpatient Imaging Center and three medical plazas, including residency and health centers.

Responsibilities:

• Meet expectations of applicable competencies: Leader of Self, Others, or Leaders.
• Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Administer medications and treatments per protocol; monitor for side effects and effectiveness.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided.
• Assess learning needs and educate patients, families, and caregivers; identify issues and resources.

Job Requirements:

Education/Skills:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.

Experience:

• 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:

• BLS required.
• RN License in the state of employment or a compact license.

Position Requirements:

• Attend New Nurses Orientation within 30 days of hire.
• Precepted by trained staff; complete onboarding and competency validations.
• Participate in residency or orientation programs as applicable.
• Complete annual competency verification.

Additional Experience:

• One year in a related nursing specialty preferred.

Additional Certifications:

• Current ACLS certification required.
