Job summary

Gundersen Health in La Crosse, WI, is seeking an RN for Inpatient Behavioral Health to cover night shifts in a 0.75 FTE role. You will provide trauma-informed, evidence-based care to patients in crisis, collaborating with psychiatrists, NPs, RNs, social workers and therapists.

Qualifications

• Active and unencumbered RN license to practice in Wisconsin.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, trauma-informed and evidence-based care to patients in acute mental health crisis.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including psychiatrists, NPs, RNs, social workers, and therapists.
• Support patients through crisis stabilization, medication management, and therapeutic interventions.
• Maintain accurate documentation and uphold safety and regulatory standards.

Registered Nurse (RN) - Inpatient Behavioral Health

Location: Main Campus, La Crosse, WI

Department: Inpatient Behavioral Health (IBH)

Schedule: 60 hours per two weeks (0.75 FTE) | Straight 12-hour Night shifts (1830-0700)

Every third weekend | Two holidays per year

What You'll Do

• Provide compassionate, trauma-informed and evidence-based care to patients experiencing acute mental health crisis.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including psychiatrists, NPs, RNs, behavioral health specialists, CNAs, social workers, therapists, clergy, and addiction counselors.
• Support patients through crisis stabilization, medication management, and therapeutic interventions.
• Maintain accurate documentation and uphold compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

What You'll Need

• Associate Degree in Nursing (minimum)
• Required: Active and unencumbered RN license to practice in the state of Wisconsin
• Preferred: 1+ year of RN experience, ideally in mental health
• Current Infant-Adult BLS for Health Care Providers
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
