Job summary

Homewood Retirement Centers is seeking a Registered Nurse to assess and deliver direct resident care, administering prescribed medications per approved nursing techniques. You will maintain accurate care records and support care planning for residents in a senior living community.

The role requires standing, lifting up to 30 pounds, and responding quickly to emergencies. You will collaborate with Nursing Assistants and Hospitality Aides to ensure a safe, compassionate environment for residents

Qualifications

• Current and valid RN license in the state providing nursing care.
• Good judgment, initiative and dependability.
• Ability to read, write and understand English well.
• Ability to stand, walk, stoop and twist during an 8 hour shift.
• Capable of lifting up to 30 pounds for resident assistance.
• Stamina for constant movement across the campus and emergencies.
• Ability to push a medication cart and follow physician orders.

Responsibilities

• Administers prescribed medications and treatments per nursing standards.
• Maintains accurate, descriptive records of resident care and nursing actions.
• Assigns daily care duties to Nursing Assistants and Hospitality Aides.
• Monitors delivery of care and evaluates resident needs.
• Transcribes and executes physician orders and assists visits.
• Participates in resident care planning.
• Responds to emergencies with proper nursing techniques.
• Assists with admissions and discharge processes.
• Assists in managing Nursing staff and aides.
• Contributes to direct resident care as duties permit.
• Supports physician orders execution and unit operations.
• Performs other duties as directed by supervisor.

Job Summary:

Assesses the direct delivery of resident care and administers prescribed medications.

Essential Functions:

1. Treats all information about residents, their condition, and family as well as personnel matters as confidential information.
2. Complies with established Corporate and Departmental policies and procedures, and maintains established standards and practices.
3. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques.
4. Provides accurate and descriptive records of medical and nursing care of the residents.
5. Assigns daily resident care duties to Nursing Assistants and Hospitality Aides, monitors and evaluates the delivery of care.
6. Accurately transcribes and carries out all physicians orders and assists with physician visits.
7. Participates in resident care planning.
8. Evaluates and is alert to the physical and psychological needs of the residents and responds in accordance with proper nursing techniques and protocol.
9. Assists with admissions and discharges of residents.
10. Assists in the management of Nursing Assistants and Hospitality Aides.
11. Assists with direct resident care as time and responsibilities permit.
12. Assists with carrying out physician orders.
13. Performs other functions as directed by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

3. Ability to read, write and understand English well.
4. Ability to stand, walk, stoop, twist and turn frequently throughout the course of an eight hour shift.
5. Ability to lift 30 pounds in assisting co-workers with resident lifts, transfers, etc. several times throughout the shift.
6. Standing and walking distances constantly throughout the campus would be required during the shift in evaluating residents and supporting line staff and (at applicable facilities) respond to emergency needs of the Retirement Community.
7. Ability to push a med cart in dispensing medications.
8. Must be able to react quickly and decisively in emergencies and in unexpected behavior of residents.
9. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
10. Ability to communicate to residents at a level they can understand.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand, walk, stoop, twist, and turn frequently throughout the course of an 8 hour shift. Ability to push a med cart in dispensing medications.
