Job summary

Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our heart-centered team. You will provide quality nursing care for patients under the supervision of the Clinic Nurse Director and physicians, following established standards and practices.

You'll assess patient symptoms, coordinate with physicians, prepare patients for procedures, administer injections, perform treadmill stress tests when needed, and ensure accurate charting and discharge information.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Registered Nurse with current Oklahoma licensure. BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
  • Minimum of one year of continuous clinic experience; cardiac experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient symptoms and communicate with physician regarding assessment.
  • Prepare patient for physician by assessing vital signs, problems or concerns, medications, etc.
  • Administer injections and assist with treadmill stress tests.
  • Schedule hospital procedures/admissions and diagnostic testing; provide patient education.
  • Document discharge information and communicate with referring providers.

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse provides quality and professional nursing care for patients following established standards and practices. Under the supervision of the Clinic Nurse Director and Physician assess patient symptoms and communicate with physician regarding assessment.

Additional duties:

  • Assist physician with in-office or out-of-town clinics. Prepare patient for physician by assessing vital signs, problems or concerns, medications, etc.
  • Be able to assess patient problems, answer questions, refill prescriptions
  • Communicate to physician regarding patient status
  • Respond to incoming telephone calls and assist patients with questions or problems to ensure their health and safety as needed
  • Instruct patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions per Physician instructions.
  • Administer or assist with injections
  • Assist with treadmill stress tests
    • a) Monitor patient or arrhythmia, blood pressure, ECG changes, and report findings.Assist Medical Assistant with all duties as needed
  • Schedule hospital procedures/admissions and diagnostic testing as necessary; Provide patient education
  • Ensure pre-authorization of hospital admissions/procedures with insurance department.
  • Assist with hospital/facility rounds as directed by physicia
    • a) Gather chart data to communicate with respecting Physician
    • b) Responsible for scribing within the presence of a physician discharge summaries and or progress notes. Document thoroughly and accurately.
    • c) Communicate discharge information to the referring provider
    • d) H&P - review with family members per Physician instruction
    • e) Arrange follow-up testing and appointments as ordered.
  • May give verbal or telephone orders as specifically directed respecting Physician
  • Maintain and review patient records, charts and other pertinent information. Post tests and examinations results
  • Removal of chest tubes - for cardiovascular surgical teams only.
