Location: US:PA:Reading


Work Type: Full Time


FTE: 1.0


Shift: Nights


Hours: 4 10-hour nightshift position (Sunday night through Thursday morning) (1800-0430). 2 scheduled holidays per calendar year (Night Shift)


  • Experienced/Certified Medical Lab Technician may qualify for up to a $5,000 sign on bonus!

Job Summary

The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), under minimal supervision, is responsible for independently performing complex laboratory tests on blood, body fluids, cells, and tissues that includes standardized microscopic, chemical, and/or bacteriological testing. All the MLT testing is performed in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures, FDA, CAP, OSHA, CLIA, and Joint Commission regulations and guidelines. Test results are used in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Associates degree for Medical Laboratory Technician or bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science from an accredited institution required.

  • Eligible to take the ASCP Board of Review exam for Medical Laboratory Technician, American Society of Clinical Pathology, (MLT(ASCP)) Certification.

  • MLT (ASCPCM) Certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire in order to retain position.


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities


  • Extensive knowledge of the principles, methods, materials, equipment, and techniques of clinical laboratory science.

  • Working knowledge of recent laboratory developments, current literature, and sources of information in medical technology appropriate to the field of specialization.

  • Ability to perform assigned tasks according to procedures and to make accurate observations and records of test result.

  • Skilled in the use of medical laboratory equipment in the performance of required tests and examinations.
