Job Description

Summary: Manages individualized, outcome-oriented nursing care through the nursing process. Provides care, treatment, and services by coordinating and completing processes such as assessment, planning, and care delivery in accordance with departmental and hospital policies.

  • Medication Administration: Follows policies for administering, transcribing, recording medications, completes medication reconciliation, and manages narcotic documentation and discrepancies.
  • Care Planning & Documentation: Develops, evaluates, and updates patient care plans, documents outcomes, and assesses patient needs throughout hospitalization.
  • Patient Safety & Comfort: Ensures proper patient identification, adheres to infection control guidelines, and manages patient comfort and pain assessment.
  • Discharge & Transfer: Facilitates discharge/transfer processes, aiming for a 12:00 pm goal, and communicates barriers.
  • Safety & Compliance: Promotes a culture of safety, complies with CDC guidelines, hospital policies, and legal standards, and safeguards patient information.
  • Professional Development & Critical Thinking: Owns professional growth, applies evidence-based practices, and demonstrates analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Technology & Regulatory Standards: Utilizes department-specific software, maintains awareness of downtime procedures, and adheres to legal and ethical standards.
  • Patient & Family Centered Care: Respects patient and family preferences, collaborates in care planning, and involves family participation.
  • Age & Cultural Awareness: Demonstrates sensitivity to diverse populations and utilizes resources like interpreter services.
Minimum Education & Experience
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Previous acute care RN experience preferred
  • Licenses/Certifications: RN, ACLS, and possibly TNCC, TCAR
