Shift: Day/Eve Rotation (United States of America)

Responsibilities:

1. Medication Administration: Demonstrates knowledge of and follows SSH policies and procedures for administering, transcribing, and recording medications. Completes medication reconciliation following SSH policy. Properly documents narcotic withdrawal, administration, verifies count, wastes per policy, and resolves discrepancies.
2. Plan of Care/Documentation/Patient Family Centered Care/Patient Experience: Develops, discusses, and communicates a prioritized problem list/plan of care for each patient. Initiates admission assessments within 8 hours, identifies and documents teaching needs, and updates the plan of care. Documents all patient care according to policies and standards. Assesses patient comfort and response to interventions. Facilitates discharge/transfer planning.
3. Safety/Quality: Verifies patient identity before invasive procedures, complies with hand hygiene and universal precautions, and ensures regulatory compliance. Understands emergency protocols.
4. Professional Development: Maintains at least 5 contact hours/year, practices within MA Nurse Practice Act, responds to feedback, and promotes a positive work environment. Demonstrates critical thinking and stays informed on policies.
5. Technology: Uses Lotus Notes, departmental software, and understands downtime procedures.
6. Compliance: Works within legal, regulatory, and ethical standards, safeguards patient information, and reports compliance issues.
7. Patient and Family Centered Care: Respects patient and family preferences, involves them in planning and care, and welcomes their participation.
8. Age & Culture: Demonstrates cultural awareness, considers individual needs, and utilizes resources like interpreter services.

Minimum Education & Experience:

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; previous acute care RN experience preferred.

Required Licenses/Certifications:

RN - Registered Nurse; BLS, ACLS, and other certifications as required by department.

Additional Details:

4-10 hour shifts; specific certifications may be required depending on department.
