GENERAL OVERVIEW:

The Registered Nurse assesses human responses and plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for individuals or families. The nurse is fully responsible for all actions as a licensed professional and accountable for the quality of care delivered. Nursing care spans from outpatient to inpatient settings.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provide transformational leadership and contribute to the future of healthcare.
  2. Build a collaborative team through role modeling and mentoring.
  3. Assign or delegate tasks based on patient needs and staff skill levels, including duties during charge role.
  4. Maintain a safe environment considering patient condition and intervention complexity.
  5. Provide verbal and written feedback to peers on clinical practice and performance.
  6. Share knowledge, promote positive attitudes, effective communication, trust, and collaboration.
  7. Accept mistakes, fostering a culture of safety, creativity, flexibility, resiliency, and adaptability.
  8. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to evaluate care and health services.
  9. Promote patient safety initiatives, e.g., National Patient Safety Goals.
  10. Participate in quality initiatives and ensure appropriate order set use.
  11. Supervise and evaluate LPN scope of practice as appropriate.
  12. Use the nursing process to assess, plan, evaluate, and implement patient care tailored to individual needs.
  13. Develop culturally and age-appropriate expected outcomes involving patients, families, and providers.
  14. Analyze health data to determine care needs.
  15. Monitor patient condition changes, notify physicians or supervisors, intervene, and document appropriately.
  16. Accept assignments beyond primary units within competency areas.
  17. Engage in continuous learning and professional development.
  18. Participate in professional organizations and activities to advance the profession.
  19. Utilize current research and evidence-based practices for skill development.
  20. Participate in peer review and seek feedback to identify strengths and areas for growth.
  21. Adhere to time and attendance policies.
  22. Prioritize patient and family satisfaction, act as an advocate, and participate in satisfaction initiatives.
  23. Promote compassionate, patient-centered communication.
  24. Address and resolve patient/family concerns.
  25. Manage time effectively to complete duties within shifts.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum:

  • Completed RN training program and hold PA RN licensure or have an application in process.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance.
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance.
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance.

Preferred:

  • Specialty certification.
