Job summary

Cibola General Hospital in Grants, NM is seeking a Registered Nurse across Medical-Surgical, ICU, OR/PACU, ED, LDRP, and more. You will provide direct patient care, educate patients and families, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support transitions of care.

We offer a sign-on bonus, relocation up to $5,000, housing or fuel stipend, tuition reimbursement, and certification training to support clinical growth and ongoing education.

Qualifications

  • Current New Mexico RN license or active NM eNLC license.
  • BLS and ACLS required; PALS and NRP preferred within 12 months.
  • ADN required; BSN preferred.
  • Ability to deliver compassionate, culturally competent care in a fast-paced hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments and develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.

Description

Registered Nurse is a compassionate, licensed professional who delivers safe, high-quality, patient- and family-centered care through the full nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. You will coordinate individualized patient education, guide and supervise ancillary team members, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and consistently uphold professional nursing standards. All practice must align with the New Mexico Nurse Practice Act, hospital policies, procedures, and current evidence-based guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

Physical, Environmental & Psychological Considerations
  • Frequent exposure to bloodborne pathogens, body fluids, infectious diseases, and biohazardous materials.
  • Work occurs primarily in a temperature-controlled hospital setting with occasional exposure to varied sounds, odors, and emotionally challenging situations.
  • Must be physically able to lift, position, and transfer patients using proper body mechanics and assistive equipment.
  • Ability to work effectively under stress, respond calmly to emergencies, and maintain strong problem-solving and coping skills.
  • Team-oriented, adaptable, and resilient in dynamic clinical situations.
Department-Specific Qualifications (Full-time & Part-time & PRN Opportunities Available)
Medical-Surgical
  • Current BLS and ACLS required.
  • PALS and NRP preferred.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple patients of varying ages and acuities.
Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
  • Current BLS and ACLS required.
  • PALS and NRP required within 12 months of hire.
  • Ability to interpret EKGs and care for critically ill patients.
  • Relevant education or experience in critical care preferred.
Operating Room / PACU
  • Current BLS and ACLS required.
  • PALS and NRP required within 12 months of hire.
  • Strong critical thinking and independent decision-making skills.
  • On-call availability within 20 minutes of the hospital.
  • Thorough knowledge of sterile technique and maintenance of a sterile field.
Emergency Department (ED)
  • Current BLS and ACLS required.
  • PALS required within 12 months of hire.
  • TNCC and ENPC preferred.
  • Ability to perform effectively in high-stress environments while providing emergency care across the lifespan.
  • Competence in assisting with advanced procedures (intubation, chest tube insertion, central lines, etc.).
  • Proficiency in ACLS protocols and rapid clinical decision-making.
Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP)
  • Current BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Intermediate Fetal Monitoring required.
  • OPS Emergency Workshop and STABLE certification required within 12 months.
  • SAFER NM Technician certification preferred.
  • Skilled in all aspects of perinatal care, labor support, delivery, and newborn assessment.
  • Knowledge of sterile technique and sterile field maintenance.
Nursing Administration Roles
Case Manager / Utilization Review Nurse (RN)

Is responsible for coordinating patient care progression, discharge planning, and utilization review activities. This integrated role ensures appropriate levels of care, regulatory compliance, efficient resource utilization, and optimal patient outcomes.

The position combines clinical Case Management functions with Utilization Review responsibilities, including medical necessity reviews, inpatient and concurrent authorizations, concurrent reviews, denial prevention, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The Case Manager / Utilization Review Nurse serves as a liaison between patients, families, providers, payers, and post-acute resources to facilitate safe, timely, and cost-effective transitions of care while supporting hospital reimbursement integrity and compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial payer, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements
General Qualifications
  • Current New Mexico RN license or active Multi-State Compact (eNLC) license.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification from the American Heart Association (or equivalent).
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Education and clinical experience that provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for the assigned department.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to deliver compassionate, culturally competent care to patients of all ages (pediatric through geriatric).
  • Strong team player with flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
