AdventHealth Orlando is seeking an experienced ICU nurse leader to join the Advanced Cardiac Surgical Intensive Care Unit. The role focuses on leading a 32-bed unit providing world-recognized care for critically ill cardiac patients, with opportunities for salary progression through the Clinical Ladder.

Headquartered in Orlando, the unit emphasizes collaborative patient care, professional development, and adherence to high safety standards.

Qualifications

• Active RN license with hospital/ICU experience.
• Proven ability to lead nursing staff and coordinate care.
• Experience with venous access and infusion therapies.
• Ability to educate patients and families on care plans.

Responsibilities

• Perform venous access procedures within RN scope.
• Administer and monitor infusion therapy treatments and adjust care plans.
• Assess patient conditions to determine venous access methods and address complications.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans for venous access and infusion therapy.
• Provide patient education on venous access and infusion therapy.
• Monitor nursing staff performance and provide feedback and coaching.
• Mentor staff and identify training needs to enhance skills.
• Resolve conflicts among staff to maintain a positive work environment.
• Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and efficiency.
• Communicate clearly with patients, families, and healthcare teams to coordinate care.

Unit Highlights:

• The Advanced Cardiac Surgical Intensive Care Unit is a 32-bed unit that provides world recognized care. It is home to some of the most critically ill patients in the southeastern United States. We provide cardiac surgical recovery care to patients requiring ECMO/ECLS, total artificial hearts, LVADs, heart and lung transplants, CABGs, valves, care for patients with adult congenital heart defects and many more mechanical cardiac support devices. ACSU is recognized as a PLATINUM level Center of Excellence in caring for ECMO patients.

• Healing Broken Hearts - As home to some of the most critically ill patients in the southeastern United States a multidisciplinary and collaborative approach is vital. Patient Care Model: RNs, ECMO specialist and Nurse Technician support Ratios: 1:1 Nurse to patient ratios.

• Our leadership team acts as a support system to all team members, focusing on their growth and development. Many team members are part of the Professional Excellence Program as well as nationally certified critical care nurses.

• World Renowned Team - We are honored to work with world renowned Cardiothoracic Surgeons, Critical Care Medicine Physicians, and Advanced Practice Providers. These individuals host an array of specialties that include cardiac anesthesia, cardiothoracic surgery, criticalcare medicine, ECMO, pulmonology, and vascular surgery. AdventHealth is a U.S. top-tier leader in ECMO volumes.

Schedule: Full-time, 36 hours a week

Shift: Nights, 7:00 pm – 7:00 am

Location: 601 East Rollins Street, Orlando, FL

• Perform venous access procedures within the scope of RN licensure, ensuring proper technique and patient safety.

• Administer and monitor infusion therapy treatments, adjusting care plans based on patient responses and needs.

• Assess patients' conditions to determine appropriate venous access methods and address any complications.

• Develop and implement individualized care plans for patients requiring venous access and infusion therapy.

• Provide patient education on venous access and infusion therapy to ensure understanding and compliance.

• Monitor performance of nursing staff, provide feedback, conduct appraisals, and implement improvement plans to ensure clinical and professional standards are met.

• Foster professional growth by identifying training needs, organizing educational programs, and mentoring staff to enhance their skills and career progression.

• Resolve conflicts among staff promptly and effectively using mediation techniques to maintain a positive work environment and ensure team cohesion.

• Lead quality improvement initiatives by analyzing data, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing strategies to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.

• Communicate clearly and effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure coordinated care.

• Mentor and precept new staff by providing hands‑on training, feedback, and fostering professional development.

• Ensure compliance with regulatory, accrediting, and hospital policies to maintain high standards of patient services and safety.

• Performs other duties as assigned.
