Job summary

CHA Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles is seeking an RN Radiology Diagnostic for full-time day shifts. You will assist physicians in radiologic procedures, monitor vital signs, provide sedation as needed, and ensure precise documentation using RIS and EHR while educating patients and families.

The role requires an accredited nursing program graduate with at least 2 years in Critical Care or ED, BLS/ACLS, and state licensing, with strong communication and patient advocacy

Responsibilities

• Assisting physicians in monitoring, collecting, and processing radiological and physiological data during diagnostic examinations and minimally invasive procedures.
• Monitoring vital signs per department protocols and initiating interventions when indicated.
• Assessing patients before, during, and post-procedure, and documenting accordingly.
• Preparing and educating patients and families prior to discharge.
• Delivering medications as prescribed, documenting deliveries, and noting adverse reactions.
• Providing moderate sedation and analgesia as needed during procedures and monitoring the patient.
• Completing documentation of medical records using RIS and EHR; maintaining accurate reports and statistics.
• Connecting monitoring equipment to patients and assisting with transport and setup of procedure trays.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Position Summary: Assisting physicians in monitoring, collecting, and processing radiological and physiological data during diagnostic examinations and minimally invasive procedures using imaging guidance such as MRI, CT and ultrasound. Monitoring patient's vital signs per department protocols and initiates appropriate interventions when indicated. Assessing patients before, during, and post-procedure, and documents accordingly. Preparing and educating patients and families prior to discharge.

• Demonstrating knowledge and skills necessary to assist physicians monitoring, collecting, and processing physiologic data during radiological procedures
• Delivering all medications, before, during, and post-procedure, as prescribed by physician, documenting all medications delivered per hospital policy, and indicating any adverse reactions. The Radiology RN provides moderate sedation and analgesia during the procedure and monitors the patient throughout the procedure.
• Demonstrating knowledge and clinical expertise in performing diagnostic radiological related tests, procedures, and treatments prescribed by a physician.
• Performing emergency duties, including CPR, demonstrating knowledge of age specific care, including but not limited to, identifying the need for additional safety measures, physiological normal values/readings; and assessing skin integrity, behavior, motor skills and/or activities that place patients at risk as well as communicates effectively in a clear, concise, understandable manner. • Completing and keeping accurate documentation of the patient’s medical records using RIS and EHR. Maintains accurate reports, records, and statistics.
• Connecting EKG, pulse oximeter, and non-invasive blood pressure monitors to patient. Clips and preps puncture site, assists with patient transport to/from the Radiology Department, and sets-up procedure tray.
• Performing pre-procedure assessment of patient when appropriate, and educating patient regarding procedure and any discharge instructions.
• Demonstrating sensitivity to patient's comfort and privacy needs (confidentiality). Acting as patient advocate.
• Cooperating with other personnel and physicians in a positive manner to achieve departmental and interdepartmental objectives and maintains good employee relations.
