About Outpatient Clinics

Scope of Work

The clinical nurse, within the ANA scope of practice, utilizes the nursing process framework to deliver professional nursing care, incorporating patient-family centered care principles. The Clinical Nurse provides quality patient care under the guidance of Nursing and Operational Leadership, following policies and procedures within an ambulatory setting.

A Clinical Ambulatory Nurse in Radiation Oncology (Brachytherapy) manages oncology patients undergoing brachytherapy, a radiation treatment modality. They assist Radiation Oncologists during pre- and post-procedure care, ensure patient safety and comfort during and after treatment, manage side effects, and educate patients and families.

Qualifications
  • Required Associate's Degree in Nursing
  • Preferred Bachelor's Degree or higher (A.D.N., B.S.N., M.S.N., DNP/PhD). If not BSN-prepared, new graduates or nurses with less than one year of experience must sign an educational contract upon hire to complete their BSN within a specified timeframe. RN must enroll in an accredited BSN program within one year of licensure and complete it within five years. This policy is effective from April 18, 2023.
  • Graduates from non-accredited nursing programs must have at least one year of acute care experience or over two years in a licensed healthcare role (e.g., LPN, EMT) and must have passed the NCLEX exam.
  • Must hold a valid Michigan RN license upon hire.
  • Must have BLS certification from AHA or ARC upon hire.
  • Must possess at least one certification from the preferred list upon hire, as specified.
