Job description

RN, Radiation Oncology (Healthcare)

Practices within the professional boundaries established by the Board of Nursing in assessing patients' needs, administering physician-prescribed treatments, teaching patients and family members about their disease state, treatments, side effects, and counseling when appropriate. Assists the physician in the overall care of patients.

Job Responsibilities:
  1. Provide on-site patient care, coordinating with physicians, staff, and ancillary services.
  2. Educate new patients on their disease, treatment options, support services, and counseling.
  3. Triages telephone calls, resolves patient issues, reviews problems with physicians, and takes appropriate actions.
  4. Administer and evaluate new and existing programs/protocols.
  5. Maintain accurate patient records, document nursing actions, and coordinate care activities with homecare or other services.
  6. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of biotherapy, chemotherapy, infusion therapy drugs, and side effects.
  7. Travel with MDR may be required.
  8. Round with MD during weekdays and weekends.
  9. Perform initial workup of new clinic patients, hospital consults, and established patient hospital H&P.
Other Job Requirements:

May require additional hours outside normal schedule and occasional travel throughout Central Arkansas.

Qualifications:
  • ADN or BSN from an accredited College of Nursing
  • BLS Certification
  • Valid and current Arkansas nursing license
  • Chemotherapy Certification (required within 90 days of employment)
  • Valid Arkansas Driver's License (if travel is required)
Experience, Skills & Knowledge:
  • 2-5 years of clinical experience in direct patient care preferred
  • Continuing education units as per Arkansas State Board of Nursing requirements
  • Proficiency in computer skills and basic office equipment
  • Expertise in IV therapy and injections
Physical Demands:

Requires talking, hearing, standing, walking, sitting, using hands, and vision abilities including close focus and focus adjustment.

Work Environment:

Potential exposure to infectious diseases; appropriate vaccinations and safety training provided.
