Job summary

Edward-Elmhurst Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Pulmonary Medicine Unit on the night shift in Elmhurst, IL. You will work 7pm–7:30am with every third weekend and holiday track, supporting higher-acuity patients.

Responsibilities include planning and evaluating care, patient assessment, family communication, individualized teaching, and collaboration with the care team to improve outcomes. Inpatient experience is highly preferred and clinical development is encouraged.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree or higher in Nursing; if ADN highest degree, must graduate with a BSN within five years of start date.
• Active Illinois State Nursing License
• ACLS within 6 months of start date
• BLS/CPR certification from American Heart Association
• RN Diploma allowed if start date before Sept 1, 2021 (grandfathered)
• Bachelor's in Nursing (preferred)
• 1 year of inpatient nursing experience (highly preferred)

Responsibilities

• Develops a plan of care identifying interventions to achieve outcomes and evaluates progress.
• Performs patient assessment and collects health data from patient, family, and care team.
• Communicates plan of care to patient and family and documents data for physicians and team.
• Provides patient and family teaching tailored to learning needs and cultural background.
• Assists in coordinating care with interdisciplinary team and support staff.
• Supports infection control, HIPAA compliance, and participates in quality improvement activities.

Evaluates patient’s progress toward attainment of outcomes, systematically revises diagnosis, interventions and expected outcomes as needed.* Provides patient assessment and collection of health data involving patient, family and other health care providers. .* Communicates plan of care to patient and family regularly respecting the patient’s wishes through acknowledgment of patient/family perceptions of health and illness and mutual goal setting for optimal outcomes. Communicates patient data to physician and interdisciplinary team as indicated to achieve patient care needs. Documents patient health data, interventions and communications.* Individualizes patient and family teaching based on a thorough assessment to meet their specific learning needs. Assesses patient’s cultural background, learning style, learning barriers, and modifies teaching plan accordingly. Provides teaching on disease management strategies, emergency care and drug information when appropriate. Identifies community resources to support patient self-management of disease.* Interacts with and contributes to professional development of peers, students and other health care providers as colleagues. Assigns or delegates tasks as needed.* Nurture a compassionate environment by providing psychological support* Provide assistance to technical staff with injection of contrast, venipuncture, and administration of drugs, 02 therapy, and IV management.* Participates in performance improvement activities and nursing research. Keeps abreast of research and practice trends in wound/ostomy/skin care through participation in professional networking, ongoing education, and self-directed learning activities. Supports staff in using research and providing evidence-based care* If skilled, conducts daily rounds of wound/ostomy/skin care patients.
