Edward-Elmhurst Health in Elmhurst, IL seeks a part-time Registered Nurse for the Pulmonary Medicine Unit with a higher acuity patient population. The role offers 24 hours per week, 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

shifts and every third weekend/holiday tracking, providing plan-of-care development and patient education. The ideal candidate holds an Associate Degree in Nursing (BSN preferred), current Illinois license, ACLS/BLS, and 1 year inpatient experience is highly desired.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree or higher in Nursing required or RN Diploma grandfathered/ BSN preferred.
• Active Illinois State Nursing License.
• ACLS within 6 months of start date.
• BLS/CPR certification (American Heart Association).
• Preferred: Bachelor's in Nursing; 1 year inpatient nursing experience is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops a plan of care and assesses progress toward expected outcomes.
• Provides patient assessment and collection of health data from patient, family and care team.
• Communicates plan of care to patient and family and to the interdisciplinary team.
• Personalizes patient/family teaching based on assessment and learning needs.
• Assesses cultural background, learning style, barriers, and tailors education accordingly.
• Provides disease management, emergency care and drug information as appropriate.
• Engages in performance improvement activities and nursing research.
• Daily rounds for wound/ostomy/skin care if skilled; monitors treatment effectiveness.
• Complies with HIPAA regulations.
• Assists in transporting acutely ill patients as needed.

Evaluates patient’s progress toward attainment of outcomes, systematically revises diagnosis, interventions and expected outcomes as needed.* Provides patient assessment and collection of health data involving patient, family and other health care providers. .* Communicates plan of care to patient and family regularly respecting the patient’s wishes through acknowledgment of patient/family perceptions of health and illness and mutual goal setting for optimal outcomes. Communicates patient data to physician and interdisciplinary team as indicated to achieve patient care needs. Documents patient health data, interventions and communications.* Individualizes patient and family teaching based on a thorough assessment to meet their specific learning needs. Assesses patient’s cultural background, learning style, learning barriers, and modifies teaching plan accordingly. Provides teaching on disease management strategies, emergency care and drug information when appropriate. Keeps abreast of research and practice trends in wound/ostomy/skin care through participation in professional networking, ongoing education, and self-directed learning activities. Supports staff in using research and providing evidence-based care* If skilled, conducts daily rounds of wound/ostomy/skin care patients.
