Job summary

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) operates the Tongue Point Job Corps Center in Astoria, OR. We are seeking a registered nurse to treat and prevent minor illnesses among students and to guide them toward better health and well-being.

This full‑time role includes on‑call rotation for urgent situations. You will supervise staff LPNs/LVNs, ensure compliance with state nurse practice acts, and provide essential health services to students.

Qualifications

• Valid RN license in the state of employment.
• Experience working with youth preferred.
• A valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to students as authorized by the medical provider and within the state nurse practice act.
• Supervise LPNs/LVNs to ensure compliance with state regulations and scope of practice.
• Provide basic health care to students including entry requirements and immunizations.
• Monitor students who are ill or unable to attend class.
• Participate in an on-call rotation and be available outside of regular hours to provide guidance and support for urgent situations.

What you will be doing

You’ll be responsible for treating and preventing minor injuries and illnesses, assuring all medical clinical care is provided to students. They will provide information and guidance for the promotion of good health and well‑being of our students.

Essential functions

• Provide nursing care to students as authorized by the medical provider and within scope for state‑specific nurse practice act.
• Provide supervision to the staff LPNs/LVNs to assure compliance with all state regulations and scope of practice and nurse practice act for practical and/or vocational nurses.
• Provide basic health care to students as required by DOL including all entry requirements and immunizations.
• Monitor students with illness and unable to attend class.
• Participate in an on‑call rotation and be available outside of regularly scheduled work hours to provide consultation, guidance, and support for urgent situations.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Valid, unrestricted RN license in the state of employment.
• Experience working with youth in a paid or unpaid capacity is preferred.
• A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
