Job summary

Allegheny Health Network's West Penn Hospital is seeking an RN for its Progressive Care Float Pool. This role covers multiple areas with varied patient acuity, including heart failure, digestive disorders, sepsis, oncology and pulmonary edema.

The RN provides professional nursing care in a collaborative, interdisciplinary team, with a mandate to uphold patient safety and high-quality outcomes. A $7/hour allowance is included under the West Penn CBA.

Qualifications

RN FLOAT POOL - PROGRESSIVE CARE

West Penn Hospital's Float Pool are highly trained expert RN's who cover all areas of their specialty and clinical expertise. There is a variety of types of patients we receive and the level of acuity in the departments. This grouping includes E8, E7 and T9 and other variable acuity units. Patients on these units could include heart failure, digestive disorders, severe sepsis, oncology and pulmonary edema.

This role receives a $7/hour allowance per West Penn CBA.

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

The Registered Nurse assesses human responses and plans, implements and evaluates nursing care for individuals or families for whom the nurse is responsible. The Registered Nurse is fully responsible for all actions as a licensed nurse and is accountable to patients for the quality of care delivered. Scheduling requirements for nurses in the Enhanced Float Pool must be balanced within each specific Section of the Float Pool. This is not dependent on the total number of FTEs. (i.e., if there are seven (7) PCU nurses scheduled in a week, one (1) nurse should be scheduled per day). Unit groupings or cluster assignments are defined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
