Active RN license in Michigan.
Experience in maternal and neonatal care preferred.
Skills in patient advocacy and care coordination.

Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care and support.
Monitor and document patient conditions.
Assist with activities of daily living and patient education.

Qualifications: Minimum qualifications and requirements

Applicants should have a state of Michigan RN license and possess an associate degree from an accredited nursing school (bachelor's degree preferred).

Additional requirements include:

Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)

Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) (within 1 year)

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (within 1 year)

Essential Functions

Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.

Documents patient care given.

Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.

Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.

Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.

Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.

Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

Department/Unit Summary

Labor and Delivery - 24 Bed unit consisting of LDRP/Postpartum and triage rooms. We follow AWHONN standards for nursing Unit has strong spirt of teamwork working together to care for high-risk Moms from throughout the UP. Collaborative provider who values nurse input and relationships. Challenged mostly in finding experienced staff and cyclical increased census requiring more staff.
