Rutherford Regional includes facilities such as Rutherford Regional Medical Center, Rutherford Family Care, Rutherford Orthopedics, Rutherford Urology, and others.

Role Overview

The RN in the Behavioral Health Unit collaborates with the healthcare team to provide quality patient care, supervising and delegating duties as appropriate.

Essential Functions
  1. Complete initial and ongoing assessments covering physical, psychosocial, environmental, and educational needs.
  2. Implement care plans, including medication administration and treatments.
  3. Discuss assessment parameters and scoring for CIWA, defining treatment guidelines based on findings.
  4. Document patient care accurately.
  5. Monitor and communicate patient conditions to the care team, physicians, patients, and families.
  6. Assist patients with activities of daily living.
  7. Coordinate patient care across disciplines, including transfers, discharges, and referrals.
  8. Evaluate learning needs and provide appropriate education to patients and families.
  9. Advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.
  10. Supervise other staff members.
  11. Assist with orientation and training of new staff.
Qualifications
Minimum Education
  • Associate’s degree in nursing required.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
Required Skills
  • Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision, and handle stressful environments.
Certifications & Licensure
  • Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Handle with care certification within 4 months of hire.
  • Current RN license to practice in NC (NC licensure or multi-state (compact) license).
Work Experience
  • 1-3 years, with recent acute care experience preferred.
