The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit is an 11-bed ICU caring for critically ill children at Huntsville Hospital for Women and Children. The PICU is staffed by RNs, NPs, and Pediatric Intensivists working closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide acute care for children aged 0-18 years. We offer a progressive educational program, including monthly inservices from physicians. We seek a team player with a positive attitude and a drive for excellence to join our PICU family.

The PICU RN provides care for children and adolescents from 0-18 years with life-threatening or high-acuity conditions requiring constant monitoring. Responsibilities include detailed assessments, planning and delivering age-appropriate care, titration of drips, technical procedures, and equipment use. The RN evaluates patient responses and strives for clinical and service excellence.

Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with current Alabama licensure.

Experience: PICU experience preferred; new graduates accepted.

Additional Skills/Abilities: BLS required before the end of orientation; PALS within 6 months of hire.
