Job summary

Baptist Health in Lexington, KY is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) on the second shift. This PRN position focuses on patient assessment, care planning, direct care, and safe recovery after surgery.

The RN PACU will supervise on other staff as needed, participate in quality initiatives, and support a healing environment. On‑call weekends and holidays rotate. Requires Kentucky RN license and BLS; ACLS/PALS/NRP as required.

Qualifications

  • Active Kentucky RN license.
  • Bachelor's or associate degree in nursing from an accredited program.
  • If an associate degree holder has <10 years of experience, enroll in a BSN within 12 months and complete within 5 years.
  • BLS certification required; must obtain within 30 days if not current.
  • ACLS/PALS/NRP and dysrhythmia class as required by department.

Registered Nurse‑PACU PRN I Second Shift PACU I Lexington, KY The Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is a specialized hospital unit where patients are closely monitored and cared for immediately following surgical or procedural interventions requiring anesthesia. The PACU is critical for ensuring patient safety and comfort during the initial recovery period, addressing potential complications, and transitioning patients to the next phase of care.

  • Demonstrate leadership skills.
  • Support for quality care.
  • Customer relations and healing environment.
  • On call requirement weekends/holidays picked by rotation.
  • Operating Room Nurses provide care and support to patients before, during and after surgery.
  • Clinical decision‑making incorporates all four phases of the nursing process, critical thinking and creativity.
  • Must possess ability to supervise and delegate appropriate work to Patient Care Techs, Licensed Practical Nurses, Unit Secretaries, and Students.
Requirements RN PACU
  • Current RN licensure and work permit in Kentucky.
  • Bachelor's or an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college/university.
  • Applicants with an associate degree in nursing and less than 10 years of experience must enroll within 12 months of hire in a bachelor’s degree program and must have achieved the degree within 5 years.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • If not already certified, must obtain BLS within 30 days of their hire date.
  • ACLS/PALS/NRP and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department of assignment.
