RN PreOp Per Diem Rotating Position Summary

Provides professional nursing care within an assigned unit. Coordinates care planning with other disciplines. The position renders individualized, age-specific, and direct bedside nursing care based on the nursing process and patient needs. Acts as a supervisor by assessing, planning, delegating, and utilizing independent judgment in directing other healthcare employees for patient care. Systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice to identify patient goals. Participates in hourly rounding, observes safety guidelines, and may be asked to be in charge for a shift. Supervises other members of the healthcare team.

Special Skills

Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work with team members are required. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with occasional periods of high pressure. Excellent customer service skills are essential. Basic computer skills are necessary. Experience in CVICU, ICU, or at least 2 years in Cardiac Stepdown is strongly preferred.

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum Education: Nursing Degree from an accredited nursing school
• Preferred Education: BSN
• Minimum Experience: At least two years of current Level III NICU experience including neonatal ventilator use
• Preferred Experience: 1 year of acute care experience; new graduates considered. Certification in specialty areas is preferred.
• Certifications/Licensure: RN license in Arizona, CPR, ACLS (as applicable)

Additional Certifications and Training

• ACLS required upon orientation completion for ER, ICU, Endoscopy, Tele, Cardiac Cath Lab, L&D
• PALS or ENPC required within ninety days for ER
• ACLS required within six months for PACU; PALS preferred
• NRP required upon orientation for Post-partum, Nursery, L&D
• Specialized training or certification in bariatrics or Wound Care as applicable

Preferred Certifications

OR: ACLS
