POSITION SUMMARY: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Sourcing Specialist. This role involves providing strategic sourcing services on indirect/corporate services spend to NYU Langone Health based on predefined service levels. Commodities may include, but are not limited to, Financial Services; Accounting, CRM solutions, and general indirect system-wide spend. The specialist will request, review, and execute contracts from start to finish, collaborating with internal teams including Data Management, Purchasing, Clinical Supply Chain, Project Management, and Value Analysis (VA). The specialist works under the general direction of the Sourcing Manager and will be responsible for guiding Contract Admins.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Analysis Skills: Interpret and analyze data both financially and qualitatively to present and interpret outcomes. Explain and convey data to all end users. Identify sourcing opportunities from data.
  2. Process Excellence: Maintain expiring contracts report, Quarterly Business review calendar, and system price parity. Support contract processes for new product additions and match exceptions.
  3. Supplier Selection and Contracting: Negotiate with suppliers on pricing and contractual terms. Analyze contracts, terms, and verbiage, considering their implications for products, services, and suppliers within the hospital. Develop contracts that support business needs, including service expectations, specifications, performance metrics, and remedies.
  4. Relationship Management: Act as a customer service support liaison. Obtain feedback from requestors/end-users to ensure alignment with departmental goals. Assist departments in implementing sourcing changes, especially when moving to new suppliers or for significant spends and services.
  5. Cost Savings: Identify, implement, and quantify strategic sourcing savings opportunities.
  6. Business Process Optimization: Seek ways to improve processes within the Supply Chain Department.
  7. Market Evaluations: Gather and interpret market and competitive intelligence through formal and informal methods.
  8. Needs Assessment and Sourcing Projects: Support initiation of new projects (RFPs) based on high spend, potential savings, contract expirations, or process improvements.
  9. Sourcing Strategies: Assist in defining strategies that maximize value considering requestor needs and market conditions.
  10. Supplier Effectiveness Review: Collaborate with requestors/end-users to review supplier performance and market capabilities periodically.
  11. Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Additional Position Responsibilities: Organizational savvy; strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent customer service skills; ability to follow documented processes. Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field.

Minimum Qualifications: 2-3 years relevant work experience, preferably 1 year in strategic sourcing within healthcare or related organizations.

Preferred Qualifications: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of procurement/sourcing processes; strong analytical and problem-solving skills, especially with data in Excel. Must communicate effectively across all organizational levels.
