Responsibilities

We are actively hiring for an Registered Nurse (RN) PreOp PACU.

  • Promote the mission, vision, and values of SCA.
  • Assess patient’s preoperative and postoperative status at intervals according to facility or healthcare organization policies and procedures, including evaluation of cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological systems, hemodynamic stability, pain, comfort needs, and mental status.
  • Interpret information accurately from various monitors.
  • Describe the underlying pathophysiology of common disease processes and physiology related to anesthesia techniques and surgical interventions.
  • Apply scoring systems/discharge criteria (e.g., Aldrete Score, PARSAP, PADSS, White score) for patient transfer as defined by organizational policy.
  • Develop and implement an individualized perianesthesia plan of care, including preparing for and managing patient recovery from anesthesia (general, monitored, regional, local), preventing injury, communicating patient status, managing pain, administering medications safely, maintaining tissue perfusion, managing co-morbid conditions, and providing education.
  • Evaluate patient progress, transfer care as needed, and provide accurate hand-off reports.
  • Delegate tasks according to legal and organizational standards, document care thoroughly, collaborate with other disciplines, participate in quality improvement, and maintain competencies.
  • Act as a patient advocate, ensure privacy, and provide culturally competent, ethical care.
  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, safety huddles, and demonstrate fiscal responsibility.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • One year of Preoperative or PACU experience required.
  • Medical/surgical nursing experience preferred.
  • Current state nursing license in good standing.
  • Successful completion of BLS/BCLS within 90 days of employment.
  • Successful completion of ACLS within 90 days of employment.
  • PALS certification required if pediatric care is included in scope.
